There has been a twist in Morgan Gibbs-White's transfer to Tottenham. The north London club were set to trigger a £60million release clause in the player's Nottingham Forest contract with a medical to take place on Friday.
However, the East Midlands club are now considering legal action over what they perceive to be an illegal approach. The transfer has unfortunately hit a stumbling block and Forest have subsequently cut off all communications with Spurs at this time as they believe they did not give permission for the Lilywhites to approach Gibbs-White despite the release clause aspect.
Forest are also said to believe the confidentiality of the release clause has been breached as Spurs' approach for the attacking midfielder was exactly what was required. football.london understands that the north London club still want to press ahead with the deal but Forest are believed to be preparing a complaint to the Premier League which could delay the move from going through.

The hope from a Tottenham perspective will be that a deal for Gibbs-White can be sealed as soon as possible as Thomas Frank forms his new team. Spurs have been very active in the transfer market already after signing Mathys Tel, Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus.
Kudus arrived in a £55million move from West Ham, meaning Spurs will have splashed out £115million on two new attackers for Frank if the Gibbs-White transfer does get the green light. Providing of course that the England international does become a Tottenham player, fans may not have to wait too long to see him in action for the very first time.
Gibbs-White's first appearance in a Spurs shirt could potentially come next Saturday when Frank takes charge of his team for the very first time in a friendly at Reading. The game at the Select Car Leasing Stadium is in the calendar for 3pm on Saturday, July 19.
Tottenham are then on the road again one week later as this time they visit Kenilworth Road to take on League One side Luton Town. This is the team's last domestic friendly before they travel to Asia for games against Arsenal and Newcastle United, with a friendly against Bayern Munich in Germany to come before taking on PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final.
Gibbs-White's first Premier League appearance for Spurs could come on the opening day of the season when they host Burnley at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, August 16. Supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that a few more signings can make their league bow on that day as Tottenham aim for a big season and more trophy success.
