If you ask any fitness coach, they will attest to the fact that gaining weight is way easier than losing it. Losing weight not only requires a dedicated control of the diet but also regular physical activity and great exercise on patience. Christopher Schwarzenegger , Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's youngest son recently opened up on his shocking 6-year weight loss journey, sharing one food item that he completely gave up on.
It was a big process
The 27-year-old appeared at an event in Los Angeles on Saturday and shared some intimate details on his weight loss, which marked the first time he had ever publicly spoken about his weight. “It was a big process. I started in 2019 when I was living in Australia. I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities,” People reported him saying in the event. Adding that he wanted to try skydiving during the trip, but his weight prohibited him from it.
He shared that since high school, he had insecurities about his weight, where he "tried everything" to lose weight, even bringing customised lunches to school. “I was doing meal delivery things in high school, and I remember feeling like a weirdo when I was bringing weird lunches to school,” he recalled. “It’s not an overnight thing, but it took a lot of trial and error.”
“And even still to this day,” Christopher added, “when you’re saying, ‘oh, before and after photos’ … I don’t feel like I’m an ‘after’ yet. I don’t feel like I’m at that point.”
One food item Christopher Schwarzenegger avoided
A surprising bit of information Christopher shared was that he lost 30 pounds of weight in less than two months from just removing bread from his diet. “Weirdly enough, I gave up bread for Lent,” he shared. “I was like, ‘Well, if I’m giving up bread, I might as well just take the opportunity, and I’m a good Catholic boy, so I’m not going to break it.’ And that was my one rule. I was like, ‘I’m not going to break Lent.’ And so I lost 30 pounds just through that.”
While it is unclear which bread the star avoided, in general, white bread is one food item that is recommended to be avoided when pursuing weight loss. A 2014 study revealed that eating two slices of white bread per day was linked to a 40% higher risk of becoming overweight or obese. Thus, it seems even one food item can make a drastic change to your weight loss journey.
People first saw Christopher's shocking transformation when he was spotted out and about during the Easter weekend in LA. He sported a long-sleeved navy shirt paired with khaki pants and white sneakers. He was joined on the panel by Kelly Osbourne, Dr Robert Huizenga and Jeff Beacher.
