Until now, men had very limited options when it came to contraceptive measures - like condoms or sterilization. But soon, a revolutionary option is going to be added to this list. Scientists are developing a male contraceptive pill that will temporarily stop the process of sperm production. And the biggest thing - this pill has passed successful testing without any serious side effects.

Success in initial trials
The name of this new drug is YCT-529, and its recent trial was done on 16 men. The purpose of this trial was to determine whether the drug reaches the body in proper quantity and whether it does not have any negative effects. The good news is that during the trial, none of the participants had to face any serious side effects. Now this drug is ready for large-scale testing, where its effectiveness and safety will be thoroughly examined.
Men can get a reliable option.
While condoms need to be used every time and sterilization is a permanent procedure, YCT-529 offers a temporary but effective solution. The pill stops the production of sperm in men. When the pill is stopped, fertility returns in about 4 to 6 weeks.
How does the pill work?
The pill's effect is based on a specific type of protein called retinoic acid receptor alpha (RAR-α). This protein plays a central role in sperm production. A substance called retinoic acid binds with this protein to initiate the process of sperm production. YCT-529 prevents the production of this acid, which inactivates the protein and stops sperm production.

No hormonal effect
Another important feature of YCT-529 is that it does not cause hormonal changes. That is, it does not cause mood swings, problems like decreased sexual desire or weight gain, which are commonly seen in female contraceptive pills.
