The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) demolished 645 constructions on Sunday for the proposed road expansion from API Corner to Chikalthana.
On Saturday, 490 constructions were demolished. The entrances of Sanjaynagar and Ramnagar, which were around 18 years old, were demolished during the drive. A strict police bandobast was deployed while demolishing the gates.
Meanwhile, the administration has given the residents 15 days to remove religious places on their own, while a committee has been established to take a decision regarding the removal of the graveyard and the statues of great men. The drive will continue in a similar way, and the constructions on Paithan Road were demolished on Monday, the officers said.

In all, 645 shops, commercial establishments, and houses coming in the way of the road expansion were demolished. In this drive, 350 CSMC officers and employees and 400 police personnel participated. Similarly, 20 JCBs, 5 poclains, 16 trucks, 2 ambulances, 2 fire tenders, and 4 hydraulic vehicles are being used. The drive is being implemented under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner G. Sreekanth and Head of the Anti-Encroachment Department Santosh Wahule.
