After finally completing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, Manchester United are now focusing their efforts on a new striker. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just seven Premier League goals between them last season and Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his attack.
The additions of Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will help, but Amorim wants a new striker to lead the line. United missed out on Liam Delap earlier this summer after he decided to join Chelsea in a £30million deal.
United were interested in Viktor Gyokeres earlier in the year but haven't followed up on that interest since and have had no intention of fighting Arsenal for his signature since he decided to join the Gunners. According to the Athletic, a late attempt to sign Hugo Ekitike has been contemplated, but the Frenchman had already decided to join Liverpool when intermediaries sought to see if a deal was possible.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko was briefly considered, but the entire cost of a transfer, plus his salary demands, weighed up against his output in the Bundesliga last term quickly put Unied chiefs off. Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins is a player admired, but the Villans don't want to sell.
And Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson is the latest player to come across United's radar, and while The Sun have suggested he may be open to a move to Old Trafford, the Blues' £80m asking price make that a non-starter.

Mirror Football understands that Amorim also wants to sign a new midfielder, having admitted it was an area of concern after United's 0-0 draw with Leeds United in a pre-season friendly last week.
"It was a pre-season game," Amorim said. "The gaps between our sectors was sometimes too big. We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park and you can feel it is hard to win and bring the ball. But we created chances."
United have managed to raise extra funds due to sell-on clauses, with Alvaro Carreras, Anthony Elanga and Maxi Oyedele all joining new clubs this summer. The Red Devils have earned a percentage of each player's transfer fee, while Marcus Rashford's impending loan move will also help.
Rashford is on the verge of joining Barcelona on loan with an option to buy and the La Liga giants have agreed to pay his £325,000-a-week wages in full. Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are also expected to leave this summer.
Those four players have been place in the 'bomb squad' and are training away from the first-team after being informed that they are not part of Amorim's plans. Sancho, Antony and Malacia all spent time out on loan last season.
Sancho spent the season at Chelsea but they opted not to sign him permanently, while Antony impressed at Real Betis and they are hoping to re-sign the Brazil international this summer. Malacia, meanwhile, struggled for regular game time at PSV Eindhoven.
