Stefan Dennis reveals secret Strictly advantage despite having just 'one day's training'

Stefan Dennis joined the Loose Women on Tuesday morning to speak about the upcoming ending on Neighbours, and his stint on Strictly Come Dancingwhich starts next week.

The 15 celebrities filmed the launch show last weekend, which is set to air this Saturday. Fans will see the first group dance, as well as who the celebs are partnered with, which is being kept under wraps until now.

However, despite the live shows kicking off in just over a week, the Neighbours star told the Loose Women he'd only had one full day of training so far. Luckily, Stefan has his wife, professional dancerGail Easdale on hand, who has been giving him hints and tips to keep him going.

On the topic of Strictly, Brenda Edwards said: "You have been trained by your wife Gail, who was also in Neighbours, for Strictly. How has that been going? I just loved the fact that you said when she's away you don't sleep at night."

"I sleep so much more soundly when she's in the same bed, and at the moment she's not," he sweetly responded. "Also, at the moment I've got all the Strictly stuff going on in my head so I'm sleeping very restlessly."

Janet then joked: "Do you want her in the bed so you can whisper dance moves to you," as Stefan chuckled: "That would help!"

"I did stick my head in the sand there because you said she trained me, well she tried to, she was telling me some simple stuff and saying, 'It would be really good if you knew this step and things like that,' which sounds easy, but I'd always have an excuse to get away. But she did manage to do some stuff!"

Stefan has been happily married to Gail for 25 years, with whom he shares sons Cameron, 23, Declan, 20, and daughter Darci, 16.

Christine Lampard, who took part in the show herself, asked Dennis if he was ready for the upcoming Strictly whirlwind, to which he threw the question back at her and questioned: "Are you ever ready for it?"

"No!" she laughed. "I wasn't ready then and I probably couldn't do it again! But it's a wonderful experience whether you can dance or not. I couldn't dance!"

Stefan replied: "I've literally done one day's training so far, full training. I mean we did other stuff. We've done some rehearsal and a group dance number and all that.

"But I've got to tell you, I know more now than I ever have in my whole life about dancing just with one day's training. Whether I last one week or the entire four months, that's neither here nor there.

"It's the fact that I have got the privilege to learn something really great, a new talent, a new skill."

The Neighbours legend recently revealed the secret behind his long lasting marriage with Gail, as he toldthe Mirror: “Acceptance and understanding,” says Stefan. “And waking up every day and looking at a woman who I just think is stunning and gorgeous in every way.”
