The political temperature in Bihar is running high as the Voter Rights Yatra of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav concludes in Patna. The yatra, which began on 17 August from Sasaram, aimed to highlight issues of Voter List Revision (SIR) and alleged vote theft. Covering approximately 1,300 km across 25 districts, the campaign drew participation from several opposition leaders.
Rally HighlightsAddressing the closing rally alongside Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav said,
"This is the land of Bihar, and Bihar is the mother of democracy. The BJP, in collusion with the Election Commission, is trying to strangle democracy in this land. They are suffocating here. Modi ji wants to establish factories in Gujarat, and he seeks victory in Gujarat."
Tejashwi launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying his flip-flopping on key issues has left him confused, almost comatose. He alleged,
"This double-engine government in Bihar has one engine involved in crime and the other in corruption. Voter lists are being manipulated, and fake votes are being added cleverly. Citizens must safeguard their votes."
The RJD leader emphasized that crime has surged under the current administration, calling for a change in government. He added,
"Nitish ji has become the Bhishma Pitamah of moral corruption. This copycat government mimics our promises—pensions, free electricity—but lacks vision. Bihar needs an original CM, not a duplicate. Just as Lalu ji never bowed down, neither will I. Modi ji is a factory of lies."
Tejashwi’s statements signal a strong opposition push as Bihar prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, framing the narrative around governance, corruption, and voter rights.
