All Creatures Great and Small fans say they're 'not ready' after announcement

Fans of All Creatures Great and Small confessed to feeling "bereft" upon learning that the upcoming episode signals the end of the series.

The Channel 5 period drama, which chronicles the life of Yorkshire vet James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph), made a comeback for its sixth series in September. Audiences have been captivated by the happenings at Skeldale House, as James and his team grappled with various animal ailments and as the simmering potential romance plot between Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) and Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) continued to unfold.

However, the programme has now shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) stating that the conclusion of season six is imminent.

"It's hard to believe how quickly this series has flown by," it stated. "Join us for the All Creatures Great and Small Series Finale this Thursday at 9pm on Channel 5."

Viewers were heartbroken by the announcement, with several posting messages on the platform expressing their disappointment, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"Too soon," lamented one, adding a crying emoji, while another queried: "Sorry that can't be right?! You must have a few extra episodes up your sleeves? Surely?!"

"I'm not ready for this!" confessed another fan. "No!" cried one. "It feels as if it's only just come back."

"My favourite show on the telly," declared someone else.

Another viewer pondered: "How can this possibly be the last in series, it's not been on two mins?"

One viewer said the series had been "an absolute joy", while another concurred: "Best series yet, truly outstanding, cast, storylines, characters and scenery... magical."

Another fan chimed in: "It's been brilliant as usual and I really hope there's another series coming. The humour and the emotion is great."

Several viewers suggested that future series should be extended.

"Not enough episodes, we need more!!" one pleaded. Another echoed: "Surely not! It's too short need longer runs."

"Six is too short, eight for next series please," another viewer urged.
