Jeremy Clarkson has hinted he'll launch a bid to become MP for Doncaster North, going head-to-head with former Labour leader Ed Miliband. The Grand Tour star, who has already gone from petrolhead to farmer at his Cotswolds Diddly Squat farm, could be making yet another career U-turn - this time into politics.
Clarkson teased on his X account: "People of Doncaster North. Are you happy with your MP? Would you like it if someone from your neck of the woods kicked him out?" and shot to 2-1 odds from Coral Bookmakers to become an MP. He's even had an invite from the Conservatives to join their party, with Oxfordshire Conservatives head Liam Walker offering himself up as campaign manager.
In my humble opinion, it's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.
The Clarkson's Farm icon has no chance against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who he's already taken aim at in his Sun column. He fumed at Farage last week: "Nigel Farage rarely talks about the economy and when he does, his numbers don't add up.
"He says he wants to cut taxes and increase spending by £150billion. Huh? But before anyone has the chance to question his logic, he scuttles back to his safe space and starts raging about small boats."

But though they might disagree on policies, Farage and Clarkson would clearly attract the same kind of voters. They both cut a divisive, controversial figure - Clarkson, who was fired from the BBC for punching a producer, and Farage, who has never been shy about his views on immigration.
I don't think Jezza is popular enough to pull enough of Farage's voters away, and with Reform UK surging in the polls, the I'm A Celeb star might be the fiercest competition Clarkson will face.
Forget about beating out Keir Starmer or Kemi Badenoch - Nige is the one he needs in his sights, and the campaign will be over before it's even begun.
