Autumn is a time most of us want to stay cosy in our bedrooms as the weather gets colder but, unfortunately, it is also a time when certain crawlies can begin to creep into the home.
Homes tend to become a lot dustier at this time of year since we are spending more time indoors and this can provide a food source for dust mites and spiders.
No one wants to be sharing their bedroom with any critters but Ali Chadwick, a cleaning expert and founder of The Chadwick Home, says there's a simple way to repel both dust and pests from your home.
She said: "Mix two teaspoons of peppermint essential oil along with teaspoons of white vinegar and top with water in a spray bottle and spray your furnishings every two to three weeks will help keep these pests away."

Spiders sense scents through their legs, and can easily become overwhelmed if they touch a surface with peppermint oil on it due to its extremely strong scent.
It will make spiders feel disoriented and make it harder for them to find other insects to prey upon so they are less likely to stay in your home.
Peppermint oil also contains menthol and menthone, which are toxic to dust mites so they will stay far away from any bedding or furniture coated in it.
It is best to mix peppermint oil with white vinegar as it is a natural acidic substance that can dissolve dust, and getting rid of grime is the key to keeping dust mites or spiders out of your home.
Removing dust will make your home less hospitable to dust mites, which feed on the dead skin cells present in dust, as well as spiders, which prey on insects that are often attracted to dust.
All you need to do is mix one part water and one part white vinegar into a empty spray bottle (around 240ml each) and then add two teaspoons of peppermint oil.
Spray the solution around doors, windows, dark corners and on skirting boards around your home. Reapply every few weeks and it should keep dust and pests away from your home.
You can spray the solution of your bedding as well to get rid of dust mites. However, cleaning removing these critters from a mattress can be tricky as they can bury themselves in the fabric.
The spray may not be enough to completely remove dust mites from a bed. Instead, put your bedding on a hot wash, and mix bicarbonate of soda with peppermint oil and scatter that on a mattress.
After a few hours, vacuum your mattress. The bicarbonate of soda will absorb any moisture or dust in the fabric while the peppermint oil will have killed any dust mites lingering on your bed.
