The UK's coastline is dotted with precious seaside towns, each brimming with its own quirks, sights and history as well as exuberant locals.

Wales is well-known for its coastal communities, often littered with remnants of Viking or Norman visits, castles and keeps for visitors to explore.

One such place is adorned by colourful homes, its own castle (of course) and bustling pubs all kept sheltered from the outside world by a 13th-century stone wall, keeping the quaint vibes inside.

A two-hour journey west of the nation's capital, Cardiff, will take you to the stunning town of Tenby with its pastel-painted Georgian townhouses plonked on the harbour, hard to miss.

The place offers several flat sandy beaches, boat trips to the nearby Caldey Island, which accessible from the harbour and has bags of historical charm.

Families can enjoy a spot of seal-watching on the island as well as rib boat rides and cruises to catch the falling sunset.

Nearby, Tenby Castle, separated from the town by a small land corridor, stands on a headland overlooking the coast with its old town walls, built by the Normans, in immaculate condition.

186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is also accessible for hikers and sightseers alike.

Those who have already discovered this picturesque town have confirmed in 5-star reviews that it made a lasting impression, with many pledging to return to Tenby when possible.

"Excellent area for a relaxing holiday, our first time in Tenby, but will be going back! We have already recommended to friends and family," user canim0151 posted to TripAdvisor.

The online travel guidance platform summarises the town by saying "Tenby is lovingly protected from the outside world by an embrace of 13th-century stone walls, which, ironically, attract-not repel-visitors from all over the world.

"The town is simply adorable, teeming with the archetypes of pubs and shops one would expect to find in a U.K. city. Adding further appeal are the miles of gorgeous beaches and the gently lapping waves of a blue-grey sea."

Other essential hotspots to visit when in town include the Dinosaur Park with more than 90 life-sized dinosaur models, guided walking safaris, fair rides and a climbing structure. The park also offers a VR experience and plenty more play areas, perfect for a family holiday.

"We had a wonderful day...the park was great, lots to do. The rides are great, and some of them are for adults just as much! The dinosaurs were also very good," Commented Nikolas Z, on Tripadvisor, after his visit.

"But my main praise goes to the friendly staff all around the park, everyone did a great job, and it's a credit to the attraction to have good staff. A special mention to the young women who does the dinosaur walk, fossil hunt, and other activities."
