London Waterloo station is facing major delays, with passengers that were prevented from accessing the building after an incident on the tracks near Wimbledon. Significant delays and cancellations have affected South Western Railway (SWR) services between Wimbledon and Woking this afternoon, following an incident on the tracks at Surbiton where it has now been reported that a person has died.
All lines between Wimbledon and Woking were blocked after emergency services responded to the incident and switched off the electricity that powers the trains in the area. As a result, no trains were able to run through the affected section of the network.
SWR have warned passengers to expect cancellations, delays, and potential alterations to routes. Although it has just been announced that all lines have now reopened, SWR said that 'major disruption' is expected to continue until the end of the day.
