Ara: Three armed miscreants allegedly shot dead an 18-year-old youth over an old enmity of his elder brother at Ambedkar Colony near Sapna Cinema Mor under Town police station area of Ara in Bhojpur district on Sunday.The youth, Birju Ram, after sustaining a bullet injury, tried to run for cover into another house, but the assailants chased and shot him again. Birju, son of Sudama Ram, received three gunshot injuries and died on the spot, police said.
On being informed about the incident, sub divisional police officer (SDPO) of Sadar, Parichay Kumar and Ara town SHO Devraj Rai along with DIU (district intelligence unit) team rushed to the spot and investigated the matter. "Prima facie an old enmity between two rival groups seems to be the reason behind the murder. The elder brother of the deceased is a murder accused in a case. The FSL team also reached the spot and collected evidence from there, and further investigation into the case is underway," the SDPO said.
The police officer said the police have identified all the three accused and raids were being conducted to arrest the culprits.
According to the police sources, on February 22, 2022, a mechanic named Sushil Kumar was murdered under the Town police station area of Ara. The elder brother of the deceased, Vira Ram, was named an accused in the case. It is suspected that the assailants had come to kill Vira but not finding him there they killed his younger brother, Birju, they said.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Sudama Ram, said, "My son used to oppose the illicit liquor smuggling in the area. He was threatened by the accused persons about five months ago too to kill him."
