Indian student shot dead in US: Killed by 'miscreants'; Telangana govt to assist in repatriating mortal remains

NEW DELHI: A student from Hyderabad was killed in shooting by “miscreants” in Dallas , United States, his family said on Saturday.

The victim, 26-year-old Chandrashekar Pole, who completed his Bachelors in Dental surgery ( BDS ) in Hyderabad, had gone to the US two years ago to pursue his masters. He completed the degree six months ago and was looking for a job, his brother Damodar told reporters.


To support himself, Chandrashekar was working part-time at a gas station, where the incident occurred on Friday night, Damodar added.


Telaagana chief minister A Revanth Reddy conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and assured all possible assistance to bring his mortal remains back.

"The death of Pole Chandrasekhar, a student from LB Nagar, in a shooting incident by miscreants in America has caused deep shock and grief. I pray to God that his soul may find peace and express my profound condolences to his family members," Reddy posted on X.


BRS MLA and former Telangana minister T Harish Rao also met the deceased student's family.

"The pain that the parents are going through, knowing that their son, who they believed would reach great heights, is no more, is heart-wrenching to witness. My deepest condolences to their family members,” Rao wrote on X.


Last month, an Indian techie, also from Telangana, was shot dead by police in Santa Clara, California.

Mohammed Nizamuddin, 32, died after police fired four bullets at him when they arrived at his residence. Authorities said that during a response to a 911 call, Nizamuddin was reportedly seen holding a knife over a roommate who was on the floor.

Although the incident occurred on September 3, Nizamuddin’s family only learned about it on September 18, through a friend.
