BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra on Saturday clarified that any decision regarding the appointment of a new Karnataka unit president will be taken by the national leadership, keeping the party’s best interests in mind. “I have always carried out every responsibility entrusted to me with utmost sincerity,” he stated while addressing media persons after the International Yoga Day celebrations at the party office.

Vijayendra mentioned that he regularly updates the BJP high command about political developments in the state. “Let us see what the party decides. I am committed to fulfilling my duties honestly,” he said.

He also confirmed that during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Bengaluru, a meeting was held with senior leaders including himself. “We discussed various state and party issues for around 25 to 30 minutes. We informed him about the Congress government’s misgovernance and their authoritarian approach. Amit Shah has advised us to unite, forget past differences, and strengthen the party,” he said.

BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra has stated that the party has not yet held any formal discussions about the possible return of senior leader K.S. Eshwarappa, who had quit the party earlier. “As of now, this matter has not been taken up in any party forum. However, those who have left and realise their mistakes are always welcome to return,” he said, indicating a soft stand on the possibility of a ‘ghar wapsi’ process.

His remarks come at a time when speculation is growing over Eshwarappa’s reentry, especially after he attended the wedding of MP B.Y. Raghavendra’s son, fuelling political chatter.

Responding to this, Eshwarappa himself told reporters that while former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa remains a close personal friend and longtime political associate, his presence at the event was purely familial. “There’s no need to interpret it politically. I am not joining any other party under any circumstance,” he clarified.
